Evaluate and provide appropriate special education services to assigned children. Oversee activities of assigned teacher assistants and aides; communicate appropriately and in a timely manner with families. Increase professional development in areas relevant to children enrolled in program.
Assist the assigned teacher as requested in all areas of the daily classroom routine. Assist the children as requested by the teacher; maintain health and safety of the classroom environment by performing assigned tasks. May be required to attend evening meetings. Prepare classroom materials as requested by teacher. Classroom assignment is subject to change based on program needs.
Fulfill all school nurse functions as needed in a special education environment in an appropriate and professional manner.
Saturdays 9:30-3:00p 5.5 hours per week We currently offer two Saturday recreation programs – one with a focus on recreation and the other with a focus on social skills for children with autism. All programs include a wide range of skill enhancement through music, arts and crafts, cooking, movement dance and indoor and outdoor play. Swimming in the outdoor pool is available during the summer months. Qualifications: Prior experience working with children with developmental disabilities preferred. The Brookville Center for Children’s Services offers a variety of special education services for children ages 3-21 with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Children are referred to the program from their local school district’s committee on preschool or special education.

Qualifications: New York State Certification in Special Education (Grades B-2) required. Knowledge of early childhood education and child development required through completion of a Master Degree in Special Education. Prior early childhood special education teaching experience required (minimum one year to plan individual education plans to meet the special needs of each child).
