Overview

Ensures ongoing support is provided to children/youth by fostering an environment in which active treatment is ongoing and assists people in becoming active participants in every aspect of their lives (i.e., self-care routines, health, safety, household chores, socialization, recreation, and overall well-being) and ensuring that a high quality of life is maintained. 

Responsibilities

  • Maintains staffing schedules and staffing patterns to ensure that the residence is adequately staffed with qualified employees while managing overtime.
  • Maintains weekly work schedules for all staff by assigning shifts based on availability and the particular requirements of each resident to ensure that appropriate care is administered at all times.
  • Maintains appropriate records of staff by observing and documenting issues relating to time, attendance, and level of performance, specific deficiencies, supervisory sessions and training needs to ensure the ongoing and effective supervision of each employee.
  • Verifies that all needed documentation of treatment plans is present and completed on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of children/youth’s bank accounts and expenditures by depositing and withdrawing all monies and reviewing monthly bank statements to ensure accuracy and adherence to individual budgets. Maintains financial ledgers that depict spending.
  • Ensures the arrangement of transportation for children/youth to and from school, medical appointments, and recreations by ensuring availability of agency vehicle to ensure the successful completion of required appointments and activities.
  • Confers with physicians and pharmacies by discussing the current medical status and/or health care needs of each child/youth.
  • Attend and participate in all required weekly, monthly, and quarterly program meetings.
  • Collaborates with child/youth’s school program by telephone or scheduled meetings to ensure coordination of services and ongoing communication.
  • Ensures housekeeping chores by assigning staff responsibilities and specific tasks (vacuuming, laundry, dusting, dishwashing, mopping floors, etc.) that will assure and provide each person with a sanitary and safe environment.
  • Performs the responsibilities of a Direct Support Professional, as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintain a working relationship with the families of the program and affiliate organizations.
  • Participate in the transition of children/youth coming into and out of the residence.
  • Recognize staff for exemplary work and areas of improvement through group and individual

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
  • You must have a valid and qualified NYS Driver's License and must be maintained throughout your employment.
  • Five (5) years’ experience working with the developmentally disabled and autism preferred and two (2) to three (3) years’ supervisory experience preferred
  • Good oral and writtencommunication skills required as well as good organizational and administrative skills.
  • AMAP certification required and maintained throughout employment and SCIP certification may be required as needed. 

 Physical Aspects may include but are not limited to lifting and transferring of an child/youth participant
