Overview

 

The Food Service worker is responsible for assisting with food preparation for catering opportunities at the Freeport Vocational Center and other customer inquiries. Their responsibilities also include but are not limited to cashiering, cleaning, sanitizing the workspace, operational assistance and providing friendly experiences to customers.

Responsibilities

Primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Assists Culinary Supervisor and assistant supervisor in preparing food, hot and cold meat and vegetable dishes, beverages, salads, sandwiches, salad dressings, and/or other similar food items, as appropriate to the position.
  • Completes kitchen clean up tasks, washes, and maintains work areas, including pots, pans, service ware, utensils, and equipment; collects and places garbage and trash in designated containers; as appropriate to the area of operation.
  • When requested, assists in completing inventories in storeroom and storage area by physically counting materials, to ensure all items are accounted for as well as to ensure sufficient food supply for next day.
  • Performs cashiering duties as required.
  • Provides guidance and training to other employees performing related work.
  • Delivers a wide variety of food items to different sites as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as requested by supervisor and/or administration.
  • Follow all health and safety requirements.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Qualified NYS Driver’s License required.
  • Food service experience preferred.
  • Must have the ability to complete basic math skills, such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
